'A BLAST FROM THE PAST'

Room 14 has been making comparisons between 'then' and 'now'.
We went for a trip back in time at Founders Park. We got to wander around and take a look at what life was like in 'early Nelson' days.
Check out our photos of our 'magical day'

Campbell and Tom have been arrested at last!!

We watched a movie about how the 'cut' in the boulder bank was created and how Nelson's port industry began

THE EXCITING ECLIPSE

WOW! What an exciting morning we had!
We went out onto the field at 10:30am to view the lunar eclipse.
It is not safe to look directly at the sun as it can cause blindness so we used very special viewing glasses.

We all thought it looked like a glittering banana in the sky!!!!!
Nicholas reckoned he saw a rocket shoot past!  while some of the kids thought they saw aliens!
hmmmmmmmmm! who knows! maybe they did?

SPACE GOGGLES...... ON! ready for action!

I took this photo with the glasses over the camera lense

Is it a bird?...  Is it a plane?...  is it superman?... no! it's a glowing banana!

Did Nicholas really see a rocket speed by???

'MAGICAL MEMORIES'

We are doing a unit called 'Magical Memories'
We are learning about treasures and making comparisons between the past and present.

Room 14 made these wonderful 'Magical Memory' boxes. They will be used to put their special treasures and pieces of writing. They will be like a time capsule that they can enjoy when they are older.
Perhaps it will be passed on to their children one day? or perhaps they will come out to surprise them at their 21st birthday!
Take a look at Room 14 in action!
Newspaper..... PVA GLUE!.... PAINT!.... ribbon!.....  glitter!.... HOT GLUE GUNS GALORE!
It was a special day!
We are publishing special pieces of writing to put in our memory boxes.....
ie.... When I grow up....   A special moment I remember was....... Poetry about our parents!
We will probably have a giggle when we look in our magical memory boxes when we are adults!

Painting & decorating begins!

We brought photos and special things to glue onto our boxes

Taylor's loving it!

Here is Rory preparing his box for painting by covering it with newspaper first. This was a time consuming job!

Great pictures Skye!

Nice bright colours!
