BLASTING BALLOON ROCKETS

We made Balloon Rockets.
To make a balloon rocket you need.....
A balloon, cellotape, A long piece of string and a small length of straw.

1. Thread the string through the straw, blow up the balloon.(try not to giggle!)
2. HOLD ON TO THE END TIGHT!
3. Cellotape the straw on top of the balloon.
4. Do a rocket count down, let go and WOOOOOSH! you have a speedy balloon rocket.

We worked in groups of 4 and trialled many balloon rocket flights to find the best method. We then raced each other in a competition.

We had a BLAST! some balloons popped!, some malfunctioned and had to try again, but we PERSEVERED till they worked. We took our own balloons home to teach our families!

Make sure the end of the balloon is facing towards you before take off.
Fasten the straw to the top of the Balloon then you are ready for action!

Team work. Phoebe is holding on to that balloon tight so it doesn't run away early!

Whooooosh! The air comes out of the balloon and propels it along the string

Blowing up the balloons was tricky. Especially when you start giggling!

Ready to launch! 3, 2, 1........

Team challenges: Ella's Angels were the top girls team Balloon Rocket winners

Luca's team only just managed to beat Ella's Angels in the end!

The Cool Cosmodome

We went on a journey into space. We squeezed through a narrow doorway of the COSMODOME!
Mr Fisher showed us what the sky looks like at night.
We learnt that groups of stars are called constellation. If youp layed dot to dot with all of the stars, they make pictures.
We saw Orion's Belt, and Maui's hook.

We saw spectacular Saturn with its beautiful gas rings and  red, firey Jupiter! Did you know that one of the storms on Jupiter is called the Red Spot? This storm is soooooo big it is even bigger than our very own planet Earth!

We had fun in the Cosmodome. We are going to take a sneaky look out of our bedroom windows tonight to see if we can see some of the constellations we learnt about!. Shhhhhhhhhhh don't tell Mum and Dad, they will think you are sleeping!
